Precise surface processing of small and medium-sized components, automatic calibration
Ultra-short pulse laser processing with maximum precision
The Kern Femto E3 is an ultrashort pulse laser processing centre based on a proven Kern machine platform and equipped with state-of-the-art laser control software. It is designed for the precise surface processing of small and medium-sized components.
The surfaces produced are measured during machining and the ablation power of the laser beam is adjusted. This enables maximum accuracy to be achieved on the component. Both the position of the laser beam in the scan field and the laser power are automatically calibrated at regular intervals, guaranteeing the best reproducibility and long-term stability of the machine. Laser processing enables the production of defined free-form geometries and fine structures in almost any material. The smallest edge radii < 5 μm can be achieved and extremely thin layers < 0.3 μm can be removed.
As no mechanical tool is used, there are no tool costs or process forces. The technology is therefore suitable for processing a wide range of technical materials, especially very hard materials or sensitive components. The machine concept is the result of a collaboration between Kern Microtechnik GmbH and Lightmotif B.V. It combines Kern's experience in precision machine construction with Lightmotif's many years of expertise in laser micromachining.
