The 3rd generation ULTRASONIC 50 is the ideal introduction to 5-axis ULTRASONIC machining. The successful model based on the DMU 50, which has been installed 10,000 times worldwide, offers maximum reliability and flexibility at the best price.

The requirements for workpieces made of advanced materials are highly industry-specific. However, short processing times and the associated high productivity are essential for most companies. This is precisely where the ULTRASONIC technology from DMG MORI can convince. The superimposition of tool rotation with oscillation in a longitudinal direction results in up to 50 % lower process forces. This allows feed rates and infeeds to be increased and surface finishes to be improved, or tool wear to be minimised - depending on the requirements. The depth of micro-cracks (sub-surface damage) in hard, brittle materials is reduced to a minimum.

Functional principle

The tool rotation is superimposed with an additional oscillation in the axial direction via the HSK-E32 / HSK-E40 / HSK-A63 / HSK-A100 interface of the ULTRASONIC actuator holder (piezoelectric effect).
